What happened to 2019?

And then … it was November.

I’m not sure how the year has sped by so quickly but it has. I recall hanging the 2019 wall calendar on my office wall thinking we had a long time before the decade ended. Well, we didn’t. For those counting, we have 56 days until Christmas and 62 days until the last day of the decade. Nope, that’s not overwhelming.

For those following me for a while, you know that November means National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Thousands of individuals around the world accept the challenge to write fifty thousand words in thirty days. Crazy, right?!? Writing can be tough and committing to writing 50K can be daunting. Somehow, it works for me.

This year is different. I am challenging myself to write sixty thousand words. My goal is to complete the first draft of Slow Drip, my contribution to the Cocky Hero Club world, by November 30th. The plotting has been fairly extensive and I believe I am in a good place to finish. Finger crossed!!

In other news, Oliver, one of my monsters, was diagnosed with stage four kidney failure. We had one amazing last night with him before I took him in to be put down. He took his last breath in my arms and is now running around up there pain-free with my previous Jack Russells, Jack, Otto and, my roommates’ dogs, Theodore and Coco.

Oliver was a deaf rescue Jack Russell that stole the hearts of everyone he came in contact with. Though is black eye patch had faded to white and he had slowed, he was cheerful and loving to the end. I miss him more than I probably should. As my heart heals, I will open my house (and heart) to another little monster in need of rescuing. Stay tuned on that one …

Okay. Okay. Okay. Back to happy thoughts!! Well, I can’t think of anything else at the moment. I’ll be back in December to kick up the holiday cheer. OH WAIT!!

NanoWriMo … this is for established writers and newbies. If you’ve ever thought about writing a book … SIGN UP!! You may not complete fifty thousand words but you will have more words at the end than you had at the beginning. That’s what it’s all about. This is an amazing opportunity to find your local writing tribe. Explore the NaNoWriMo website and jump in!!  https://nanowrimo.org/

Alright …that’s it for now.
